The PLUG: Independent Music Awards allow the general public to vote in numerous categories for indie artists. Dizzee Rascal’s the big news in hip hop and he’s up for Album, Artist, New and Male Artist Of The Year for his Boy In Da Corner debut.
Madlib is also nominated for Artist Of The Year and Jean Grae is up for Female Artist Of The Year. In addition to Dizzee, MF Doom, RJD2 and Danger Mouse are all in the running for Male Artist Of The Year.
Definitive Jux is up for Record Label Of The Year. Sage Francis and Saul Williams are part of the competition for Live Act Of The Year. AllHipHop.com is being considered for Music Website Of The Year and DM And Jemini are among those under consideration for Album Art/Packaging Of The Year for Twenty Six Inch (Lex).
There are more that I’m missing, particularly in dj albums and magazines, plus acts that I don’t recognize.
