Yesterday I went to the KRON-TV organized Bay Area Bloggers Meet-up. I got there late so I missed a lot of folks but it was an enjoyable afternoon. I skipped the opportunity to go drinking with bloggers cause I didn’t want to lose the rest of the day but I probably should have gone. It was a lively bunch and I think it would have been a lot of fun.
Here’s Niall Kennedy’s account that will give you more specifics. Be sure to read the comments because they give you a better idea of the event and the different responses.
I met some cool folks including J.D. Lasica, author of Darknet, which I’ll soon be reviewing as part of his Blogger Book Tour. So you’ll be hearing more about him soon.
I also met Anil Dash who runs the Six Apart Professional Network and, upon brief inspection, I would say he’s a pretty cool fellow. I’m hoping to chat with him rather than about him before too awfully long.
Besides famous people, I met some nice folks at KRON-TV who might be famous, but I don’t watch tv. Plus I got the chance to talk a bit with some fellow bloggers:
Benjamin Nilsen who writes Exgaucho and does something secretive with biotech.
Rich Thomas, author of Sad Salvation, who had some interesting comments on the effects of digital singles based on his recent ITunes experience. I was particularly drawn in by his prediction that we could see a return to singles artists, who basically create singles until they have enough to put out an album, something that’s apparently more of a pre-Beatles phenomenon. This possibility seems especially relevant for hip hop since it’s such a singles driven genre with dominance on the singles and ringtones charts.
The guy who does Make Ready, whose name I didn’t write down (it isn’t obvious on his blog), who’s been doing some work for Textpattern, a content management system, and has an interesting collection of domain names.
Some guy who’s name I didn’t get but who seemed nice and, on the way out, Adam Lasnik who writes BLADAM and was inspired to provide blogging tips after attending the meetup. He told me about Loose Change Dance Company, a San Francisco based company that, among other things, connects hip hop and lindy hop.
I think that’s it. If I’d gone earlier I’d probably have met more people. Or if I’d gone drinking afterwards. But it’s all good and I’m glad it happened. Thanks KRON and good luck on your future experiments with blogging.

Okay, it’s time for us to come clean. This whole blogging thing? It’s been fun, but it’s all just been an excuse to get in KRON-4′s pants. And it worked! This past Saturday, KRON invited a couple hundred of us bloggers to a meetup in its secret headqu…
