Houston Williams has a two part interview with 50 Cent in AllHipHop.com in which 50 discusses some of the current deluge of product that I detailed last week in It’s 50′s World, We’re Just Hustlin’ In It.
But Adisa Banjoko tipped me to the more interesting angle of the interview, the marketing of M.O.P. Williams suggests that marketing M.O.P. will be a "challenge" and 50 responds to the question, "How do you intend to market them?":
"I put them in the gym. . . I watched D’Angelo put out a bad album, and it sold because he was in condition. The song itself was called “Untitled” for Christ’s sake. . . Forget about whatever you know about music, right? And just turn to yourself for a second. Generally speaking about women, right, if a woman can look at you and say she likes you before you open your mouth. As soon as you say the right thing to her it’s a go. I feel like if generally people look at you and like what you’re saying before you open you’re mouth, when you say the right thing they go, ‘I like him.’"
50 also talks about other elements he can bring to their music and so forth but I think he summed up both the power structure and his marketing knowledge with the line, "I put them in the gym."
You know, I should probably start a separate 50 Cent category because he’s providing a lot of business news beyond just cutting deals and dropping albums.

M.O.P will be searching for a new label home within a year.
I Luv M.O.P. !!!!!!1
