P. Dolls & Busta Rhymes Challenge Carey
Though Mariah Carey's We Belong Together is maintaining its tenacious hold on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, The Pussycat Dolls' Don't Cha featuring Busta Rhymes rose in this week's chart from no. 3 to no. 2. However, Don't Cha took the no. 1 spot on the Pop 100 from Mariah and still holds it in week three.
Other rap singles in the top 10 of the Hot 100 are Bow Wow's Let Me Hold You featuring Omarion at no. 4 and Missy Elliot's Lose Control featuring Ciara and Fat Man Scoop at no. 5. Ludacris' Pimpin' All Over the World featuring Bobby Valentino rose from the no. 11 spot to join the top 10 at no. 10.
Bow Wow's Like You featuring Ciara is the Hot 100's greatest airplay gainer, jumping from no. 49 to no. 25, while The Black Eyed Peas' My Humps debuted this week at no. 85.
Described as the "Hot 100's top debut", though no chart position is given, Seasons of Love from the upcoming film Rent is not a hip hop tune but it's worth considering. I haven't been keeping up with digital-only releases on the singles charts, so this may not be earth shattering news, but this track has entered the Hot 100 while being "currently exclusively available via Apple's iTunes music store."
