Charts: Kanye’s New No. 1, Rock Albums Rule

Kanye West’s chart topping single Gold Digger not only continues its reign on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, along with the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Pop 100, Hot Digital Songs and Hot Ringtones charts, but it’s now no. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart. Previously Bow Wow’s Like You featuring Ciara was no. 1 on Hot Rap Songs but now Bow Wow must settle for second best at no. 2.

Other hip hop related songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100 include The Black Eyed Peas’ My Humps at no. 5, David Banner’s Play at no. 8 and the Pussycat Dolls’ Don’t Cha featuring Busta Rhymes at no. 9.

Over at the Billboard 200 albums chart, the top two positions go to a couple of rock bands, but rap stayed in the picture even though Barbara Streisand beat out David Banner!

The good news is the only acts that remained in the top 10 from last week are all hip hop with Kanye West’s Late Registration at no. 3, The Black Eyed Peas’ Monkey Business at no. 8 and Paul Wall’s The Peoples Champ at no. 9. Plus, two other rappers debuted in the top 10 this week. David Banner’s Certified appeared at no. 6 while T.I. and P$C’s 25 to Life came in at no. 10.
