« 50 Cent and the Violence of Money | Main | Kanye Dominates Singles Charts »

September 15, 2005

Kanye No. 1, 50 Cent No. 2

In a development that won't make 50 Cent happy, Kanye West's Late Registration holds the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a second week while the reissue of The Massacre takes second place.

Though most people would probably be happy with a no. 2 spot for a reissue, 50 Cent seems to be a bit threatened by the success of Kanye West, who's sold over a million copies of Late Registration in the first two weeks. But 50 should be proud because, in its 28 weeks on the chart, The Massacre has sold almost 4.5 million copes.

Other rap albums in the top 10 include the Black Eyed Peas' Monkey Business at no. 4, Tony Yayo's Thoughts of a Predicate Felon at no. 6 and Young Jeezy's Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 at no. 10. AZ's A.W.O.L. debuted at no. 73.
