Jay-Z, Lyor Cohen & Steve Stoute to Buy The Source?

I'm not sure why this is being reported at Women's Wear Daily, but rumor has it that Jay-Z, Lyor Cohen and Steve Stoute are looking at possible avenues for acquiring The Source.  Apparently Harris Publications, which publishes XXL, is also checking things out.

I hope the three of them do acquire The Source. Frankly, just about anybody other than the current management would be a major improvement.

DJ NITTI

The Source, like it or not, is an institution in Hip Hop and part of the history of the genre. I really hope someone, anyone, can save it and bring back the integrity it deserves. I believe some of David Mays and Benzino's arguments against the industry had validity however they let it get to the point where it got personal and it started to seem more like propaganda instead of what it should have been, which is objective reporting. Anyway, I truly hope that someone can save The Source and get it back to it's glory days.

J. Space

I agree with Nitty...growing up in West Virgina, a new Source issue was like crack! It would be nice to see it return to form, at least a bit.

Did anyone else catch WWD's dig at Benzino? "[Benzino] is a little-known rapper who has received copious coverage in the magazine's pages." Even an outsider can peep it! Ha!
