Vibe Awards: Diplomats, Kanye, Kevin Liles, T.I., The Game

Last year’s attack on Dr. Dre was the topic for both headlines about Saturday Night’s Vibe Awards and presenter’s jokes, such as that of Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock who stated:
“Three awards have been given out, and no one’s been stabbed yet. Come on black people!”

Mariah Carey won a bunch of awards, the Diplomats won Best Group, Mary J. Blige received special honors and Kevin Liles was named Power Broker of the Year. Though Kanye West didn’t show, he won the Best Rapper award.

Best Rapper: Kanye West
Next Award: Keyshia Cole

Power Broker of the Year: Kevin Liles
Club Banger: “1 Thing,” Amerie
Reelest Video: “Trapped in the Closet” (Chapters 1-5), R. Kelly
Hottest Hook: “Hate it or Love It,” The Game featuring 50 Cent
Video Goddess: Esther Baxter in “Number One Spot” by Ludacris
Boomshot Award: “Welcome to Jamrock,” Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley
Best Group: The Diplomats
VStyle: Baby Phat
Vibe Vixen: Kimora Lee Simons
VLegend: Mary J. Blige

The Awards show will be televised Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 8 to 10 pm on UPN.
