DMX Album Renamed "Year of the Dog, Again", New Single

dmx year of the dog again art

According to a publicity release DMX's new album that was entitled Here We Go, Again has been retitled Year of the Dog, Again and is expected for release this summer from Ruff Ryder/Sony Music.

There's a new single produced by Swizz Beats called We In Here which I think is the name of an earlier track but the lyrics are definitely different.  This is more of a we're back track than a diss/revenge/threat track.

We In Here:
WM Hi
WM Lo
RM
MOV

I just listened again and realized that it's probably only with DMX that I would describe a track with these lyrics as not a diss/revenge/threat track because it's definitely violent and really coming for the current crew defining rap.  Anyway, you long time DMX fans can respond in the comments about the song but my deal with DMX has never been one where I was particularly impressed by the specific acts of violence described or implied.

There's something about DMX's tragic, troubled persona that's just so much bigger than any of the other gangsta types and has nothing to do with guns, dogs, crews, big muscles, fast punches and other paraphernalia of machismo that's now a part of hip hop for better or for worse.  This will sound ridiculous to many but, energetically speaking, he's channeling energies much stronger than most rappers could handle.  Perhaps that's why he has so many problems handling it himself.

Last month it was announced that DMX was leaving Def Jam for Sony Urban/Columbia and that the delayed album was back on track.
