Blogs: NS4LIFE and Marketing Pop Culture
One of the cooler things about refocusing ProHipHop on marketing has been the new people with whom I've connected and the new blogs I've found. What's weird about the blogs is that many of them have been around for awhile and somehow I never found them, though finding new resources is something I put a lot of time into.
I'm especially intrigued by NS4LIFE:
NS4LIFE.COM is a daily video journal about the NextSelection Lifestyle Group, a music-focused media company based in Harlem, NYC run by RYAN LESLIE.
I haven't had time to check the video posts all the way through but I think the concept of showing people what happens in the studio and in other settings related to a music company is a great way to build buzz for one's business.
Marketing Pop Culture is quite relevant to what I do but I somehow missed it until Rob Fields dropped a comment here at ProHipHop. Again, I haven't really had time to check it out very deeply but I found this bit about kids' spending power quite relevant and I dig the personal touch:
Just to be clear, this report is talking about kids ages 3 – 11. But it’s not surprising, especially since even six year olds, like my son, become enamored of certain brands. What’s the name of that shoe again? “Geox,” he says. “You know, the shoe that breathes.” Give the Geox marketing department a raise.
I also hadn't heard about 21st Century Hustle, so I can tell it's going to be a useful resource.

You never heard of NS4LIFE's Cassie and her MySpace story? Don't you watch MTV?!!

I don't watch tv. Except for reading books and browsing occasional magazines, all my media consumption is online. MTV is oh so media 1.0.
I did hear about it on another blog but I can't remember who it was. Let me know if you noticed a recent post about it.
