Conde Nast Portfolio: How Soon Is Soon?

Here's one of the reasons I love web publishing:
Coming soon, a new magazine that will change the way you do business.

How soon?

Conde Nast Portfolio and cnportfolio.com Premieres May 2007

Given the nutty economics of magazines, I know the magazine release date is not outrageous.  But why hold back on the site?  If you're going to go ahead and tell everybody what you're doing, why not experiment with the process online?  Perhaps even build a community in anticipation of a magazine that's expected to do well but will be facing increasingly difficult conditions when it appears.

Especially when you're claiming to change the way folks do business.

Speaking of magazines, Elliott Wilson seems to have come up with an idea I actually like!

Slav, you've got to get in a position of power so you can hook me up! I'm serious.
