The problem with alot of hip hop related comics is that they deal with HIP HOP as a music form and not a cultural element within the society. NO WHERE do you see characters whose culture happens to be hip hop share themselves artistically and with a command of knowledge.
Also we don’t use our own mythos to our advantage. We want to relate to manga so bad, but we can’t relate to our own African Diasporic Mythology. A great source, along with hip hop culture of an ORIGINAL ARTFORM based on common experiences of our people.
