What’s up with the white vs. black theme for the white PSP release?
I get that it’s a chick fight/lesbian erotica thing, if you check out all the pictures, but I think it’s pretty questionable to align one’s product with interpersonal racial conflict.

I think people are looking to deeply in to this.
The images have definitely provoked discussion. That seems to be why people think they work from a marketing angle.
“White Is Coming!” That’s just poor wording. I personally think Sony wanted some controversy. They just need some attention on their undesirable PSP. Sony’s going after some hype and buzz.
I’m so exhausted with the idea that anything is justifiable as long as it creates buzz.
These ads are crass and irrelevant and I believe that humanity is capable of better things, even in its commercial endeavours.
I would not support any company that uses base controversy as its sole selling point.
It’s not a good look for so many reasons.
I’ve had mixed feelings about the Sony PSP campaigns and have felt that they’ve missed the opportunity to connect to fan excitement in their marketing:

I don’t think it was intended to create a racist impression. But, it must have crossed their minds at some point that this would provoke some sort of discussion. I think it’s just a case of extreme marketing gone wrong. Bad idea.
