- The Warner Music Group is making another attempt at buying a struggling EMI Music.
- As a pre-emptive move to gain European regulatory approval , WMG made an innovative deal with indie trade group IMPALA to guarantee their support of any merger. Previously IMPALA had fought merger moves by Sony and BMG.
- Several investment firms are also said to be eying a bid for EMI.
Competing satellite broadcasters Sirius and XM have agreed to merge.
