Jay-Z/Don Shula Super Bowl Bud Select Commercial

Jay-Z/Don Shula Budweiser Select Super Bowl Commercial

I really like the merger of chess and football in this commercial but something about the Don Shula/Jay-Z pairing doesn’t work so well for me.  Nevertheless, I can’t hate on this one.

Conceptually this was a cool commercial, ala Star Wars and Holograms. However to think that JayZ would outsmart Don Shula in a football game give me a fricken break. Of course the only way he wins is to cheat. They should have had Shula and Vermeil playing each other. Two old timers playing a game of the future.

I don’t know that he cheats since it’s a hybrid game and I don’t know the rules.
But I did feel like the Jay-Z/Don Shula match up didn’t quite work. I was thinking about it from who would be a good match for Jay-Z and I couldn’t come up with anybody. But I like your idea for a Shula/Vermeil match up.
I’d be interested to know how many people didn’t know who one or the other was in the commercial, kind of like the match up of Snoop Dogg and Lee Iacocca in an old commercial for something or other.
