Thug Life Army Records announces its debut with digital singles and an EP by Binky Mack to be followed by a hard copy release CD/LP. Singles are also being serviced to radio.
The label is an offshoot of Thug Life Army and was put together by Frank Miranda and RB Riddle. Their next project will be from Concrete Souljahs of Phoenix.
RB has good news for unsigned artists:
Any artist who are interested we are definitely looking so you can visit the web site and contact us. We all know that commercial hip hop is getting old and we are hear to help breath some new fresh life into the culture and music we all love so much.
It will be interesting to see how this goes. I think that launching a label or creating an initial platform to help select indie artists launch themselves are potentially good moves for niche sites that have a strong audience. Going all out with physical releases as is Thug Life Army Records is a pretty serious move. But there’s lots of room between such a step and exploring the possibilities for working with new artists who match one’s community.

Don’t get it? Why would some one want to be associated with TuPac when he’s such an icon of Hip-Hop muzik? The best label can do is put out compilations of TuPac inspired songs or covers….
The Tupac association comes from the focus of a lot of the material at Thug Life Army.
But I agree that going to the record label site and encountering a splash page featuring Tupac does confuse things.
Thug Life Army Records is like a breath of fresh air to hiphop music. I hope they keep up the good work and continue to support the legacy of Tupac Shakur while informing the community of important issues. 1LUV TO RB AT Thug Life Army.com
