Not only did NYOIL attend Al Sharpton’s Glorious People’s March for Decency but he blogged a response that others soon picked up and then put out a press release entitled:
Walk into a Record Store and Support Good Music…That would be a True March for Decency!!!
Sance, who bills himself as a “responsible rapper”, is promoting his debut release 2829 as a Profanity Free Hip-Hop Invasion!!!.

Lupe Fiasco’s ‘Food and Liquor’ was nearly profanity free. It’s regarded as a classic by some (including myself) but did not get a lot of attention for its political content and social consciousness.
Maybe he can be the first rapper to make it to Oprah’s couch as a true hip-hop artist and not a “/actor.”
Rakim has been making profanity-free music for years. He’s widely considered the Greatest. Will Smith made profanity-free music and drew more jeers than cheers. Maybe, all this Imus brouhaha will force people force the spotlight back on “clean hip-hop.”
Hell, I might even drop a profanity-free album titled Whut? Thee Hypocrisy.
To me the issue isn’t about being profanity free or not but there’s about a month or so available for people to use that productively as a marketing hook.
You know, people only said bad things about Will Smith because he was so successful. I liked his response to that in Willenium.
