After several deadline extensions, UK investment firm Terra Firma finally won its bid to take the EMI Music Group private.

iTunes hit 3 billion downloads amid new reports that Apple is exploring free ad supported downloads.

eMusic cut a deal with AT&T Mobile to make its 2 million indie track catalog available for downloads and announced a new study that showed that its subscription model is good for indie music sales.
