Aftermath Studio Session Pt. 1: Busta Rhymes

Busta Rhymes Breaks Down the 21st Century Music Game

Busta Rhymes breaks down how the Internet has undermined his game.  He's actually quite concise and very funny both when he's describing how they can't get as much money out of the labels for album budgets (can't scam 'em like they used to) or talking about how kids on the computer now think they're the stars!

Don't know when this happened but it's a rare moment of clarity for a hip hop talk video.

Comments

definitely an insightful moment as well as entertaining. I just wish that of a lot of these hip-hop video cats would learn how to mic their subjects. So tired of this crappy home video style. It doesn't take much to throw up a light or even place a mic closer to your subjects for better audio. learn the craft!

Peace,

Both the video and the comment above speak of the decentralization of media, and the heretofore unknown capability to communicate one's perspective world wide. The proliferation of technology has always decentralized power.

For example...the proliferation of light bulbs helped more people learn to read. Everyone didn't become a PhD, but people became more aware of more aspects of life in general.

Business and individuals have always learned to adapt to new conditions rather well...we are going through a very unique period of human development right now. We now have the ability to collect information from anywhere, and create and communicate one's personal perspective with people of like minds. The internet is like a synapse network connecting each one of us like Brain Cells. Our collective thought process will evolve to use the "net" like we have developed the intellectual capacity to use our power of observation and reasoning throughout history. There will be ups and downs in our collective development, just as in our individual development...however, humans are built to survive and flourish - we will come out ok in the end...even if its just a few of us left - lol!

Look at the example of Edison vs Tesla to see how the mindset behind emerging technologies affect the general use of the new technologies.

One model is for the betterment of corporate interests, and the other is for the betterment of human existence. When corporations and the PEOPLE (most importantly) understand the necessity for balancing the needs of both, then you will see the beginnings of a Utopian society.

Peace

I'm not waiting on Utopia but every time a cop gets exposed by a kid with a cellphone I chalk up another victory to technology.

Indeed...I agree with both statements...I won't wait for sh9t...we are already building it!

I'm with you on that!
