So Where’s the LA Equivalent of Nah Right or Real Talk NY?

Of all the urban centers one would think that Los Angeles would have somebody rivaling high volume New York oriented blogs like Nah Right or Real Talk NY.

Tell me it’s a gap in my knowledge or tell me it’s a gap in the blogosphere.

If it’s the latter:
Tell me I should move to North Hollywood and kick this ProHipHop game into another dimension.

That would be hilarious for far too many reasons and so probably a really great idea!

Sup Clyde…there is one site that I know of that is kind of new that I recently came upon. Called wooohah.com It’s two guys from LA who talk all about hip-hop in movies, TV and such. Got some interesting stuff that seems more from a Hollywood/LA point of view.

Get your money baby… The west is thirsty for it…

  7. Yo whats good??? This is Tony Blair the creater of Get A Bar! Blogspot. I created the blog to show the trends in music and the lifestyle of the west coast… much like a “nahright” or ‘realtalkny”. The blog was created because coming from the block and working within the industry, media/press outlets whether national or regional dont want to cover the west coast unless its affiliated with Dr. Dre or Snoop or they are getting paid bread from the label to do a peice or promote said artists.
The west coast has an emerging scene right now – we arent all “khakis & chucks” thats played out to the youngs on the block… there are mor skateboarders out here than gansgtaers right now!
So stay connected on Get A BAr! to get the latest, exclusive music, video & news from the West Coast…

I know i’m jumping in this discussion kind of late – I was actually in Central Cali when this post was made – but I wanted to throw out my observation of why there’s no equivalent of NahRight or RealTalkNY. It’s a combination of L.A. hip-hop scene being fickle and lack of dedicated bloggers with expertise in all of it that can present it properly. With that said, I’m going to check out Get a Bar and Woohah and hopefully see something I like so I can keep coming back for more. I should also mention that SOHH’s Left Coast blog (by Giselle Wasfie, who was an editor at URB) is decent.

Thanks for the word on SOHH. I haven’t checked out those blogs in a while.

    Always with the sharp analysis!
But I’m still a bit baffled by what feels like an absence though I like the blogs I’m finding.
