In an extended profile in The New Yorker, David Simon, creator of The Wire, reveals that he is planning to set his next show in New Orleans.

This guy is one of the best researchers working in television drama and such a show will most likely be an amazing thing.

Background on David Simon:
David Simon researched and wrote Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets which led to NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street.

He then researched and coauthored with Edward Burns The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood which resulted in HBO’s The Corner.

Finally he created, executive produced and cowrote The Wire, one of the greatest gifts to television and for that we thank him many times over!

each of those 3 shows is among the best and smartest ever made (though wire is best of all).. can’t wait to see his insights into NO.

I know. It could be quite amazing.
I found The Corner difficult to watch because it was just too painfully real so I’m hoping this series will have the added entertainment value of The Wire to balance that out.
