Vanessa Satten: Interim Editor-in-Chief at XXL

I was looking up some info about Vanessa Satten, reported to be XXL's interim Editor-in-Chief, and I'd totally forgotten that she's already revealed her cluelessness about bloggers:
XXL's Big Web Plans from Deputy Editor Vanessa Satten

Nevertheless, I want to wish Ms. Satten the best of luck as she takes over, for however long, at a publication that appears to be facing some real problems.  I'm sure she's just the woman for the job.

Best of luck, Vanessa!

I just spent the first half hour of my morning familiarizing my self with the history of "tension" between ProHipHop and XXL and I must admit it was a very interesting read. It's clear that XXLmag.com began as sort of a blind leading the blind situation, first stepping on the collective toes of urban bloggers, then groveling for their support, and then ultimately shunning them again. [at least that was my read of the chronology] Furthermore, I will say that for XXL.com, a portal that has gained popularity and respect through the personalities of it's resident bloggers, to be under the helm of an (interim) EIC like Nessa might be a bad look. Many feel her editorials to be downright annoying and somewhat distant. Your Feb '07 post didnt do much to change my mind.
But after an auspicious start XXLmag.com has righted the ship by relying on some great bloggers like Bol, Gooch, and Eskay (to name a couple). I'm sure the collective talent and insight of the crew will keep them afloat going forward. I too wish them the best of luck.
