Madden NFL 09 Video Game

The Madden NFL 09 video game due August 12th from Electronic Arts includes a number of hip hop artists on the soundtrack:

Busta Rhymes f/Linkin Park - We Made It
Gym Class Heroes - I'm Home
Izza Kizza - Millionaire
K'NAAN - ABC's
Kardinal Offishall f/Lindo P - Burnt
Kidz In The Hall - Blackout
Tyga - Diamond Life
Wale f/Southeast Slim - Breakdown
Young Dre The Truth f/Good Charlotte - Workin'

Steve Schnur, "worldwide executive of music and marketing" for Electronic Arts, discusses the musical impact of Madden, noting:

"that in the past year alone, the EA Trax page at EA.com has sold over 100,000 mp3s, ringtones, themes and music from EA games directly to EA gamers. Schnur added that on iTunes, EA has logged nearly 150,000 purchases of EA music, along with tens of thousands more free podcasts and downloads..."

"'This is more than just another way to maximize the music power of titles like Madden; we consider it to be the next major steps in evolving a whole new world of global music discovery,' said Schnur."

Schnur also makes note of Madden's support for emerging artists:

"'Over the past seven years, 77.69% of the music in Madden soundtracks has come from emerging artists...That's 108 out of 139 total tracks. Look back at the past six Madden soundtrack line-ups today, and you'll see plenty of familiar acts. But at the time, nearly 80% of those artists were completely unknown.'"
