Plies Exposed! Didn't Do Time He Didn't Claim Doing!!!
Back when Akon was exposed by The Smoking Gun's public records research for not doing the time he claimed to have done, I pointed out how simple this exposure was and asked, "who's up for tearing through all the rap game bullsh*t with some records research?"
It looks like Hip Hop DX has recognized the obvious, public records research can lead to big web traffic, and gone after Plies.
Why Plies? I don't really know except that, like Rick Ross, he's an enemy of Trick Daddy.
As writer Paul W. Arnold points out, Plies mostly focuses on the experiences of others in the criminal system leading Arnold to such statements as:
"first person accounts of criminal activities on Plies' part are conspicuously scarce in his raw rhymes."
Conspicuously?
As in sticking out because it's closer to the truth than many other such rappers?
Arnold then goes on to jettison the final vestige of artistic license leaving us with what, exactly?
Bottom line: Nice job on the records research. Weak job on doing something meaningful with it.
Related Trick Daddy News:
I don't know where this news actually came from but Trick Daddy not only says he's not behind the Rick Ross pics but that the folks who are behind it are trying to create divisions in Florida hip hop.
That is definitely something to consider whether it's true or not, i.e., at this point anybody planning a brand destruction campaign against an artist, a label or an entire region could do quite a bit of damage with public records research.
