Gutta: Heads Will Roll Album Cover Art

Gutta - Heads Will Roll album cover art

Gutta - Heads Will Roll

Gutta's Heads Will Roll is due September 2nd from Babygrande Records.

I have mixed feelings about gun porn but, hey, this is America and it's an election year so all power to the sidearm!

On a more serious note, yes, this is yet another Babygrande album cover.

No, there's no agreement between ProHipHop and Babygrande.

Basically Babygrande has consistently interesting and/or unique imagery on their album covers and they distribute the graphics by email, usually when they announce the album.  They're more consistent about that than anybody else I deal with including major labels.

So that gets them more ProhipHop coverage.  I don't have a solid sense of how it affects their coverage overall but it's got to help and I do notice many of their albums showing up on the hip hop blogs I follow.

I especially like the fact that what they're doing is theoretically what anybody could do.  They're just showing you what it looks like to take this particular aspect of marketing and do it well on a regular basis.

On the other hand, if the Gigya widget on Gutta's iHipHop page wasn't autoplay, I'd post that here too just to share the cool little puffs of smoke!

Too bad.  Autoplay should always be an option, not a default, unless it's your content on your site.

Comments

Actually, I thought that was a pretty terrible cover, the smoke and the lettering are clashing to my eyes.

I'm not in love with the cover but it caught my attention.

I find the glove fabric a bit odd myself since it carries so much visual weight but doesn't read macho insanity like the other elements.

I would have to say that even the Babygrande covers I don't like tend to be distinctive enough that I take a look.

And I haven't had anybody aim a gun in my direction on an album cover in what feels like at least a few months!
