So I find this press release and two blokes have started a hip hop band cause they think it’s a ripoff to buy printer ink cartridges from the manufacturer rather than from cartridge refillers or cut rate manufacturers.

For some reason, the fact that I was being presented with such an obvious fake backstory and a lame theme made me not want to watch it but I did research the domain and it traces back to Solar Electronics Ltd who are also connected to stinkyink.com, an inkjet cartridge vendor.

It’s one thing to put out a hit song by a major artist and then reveal it’s a jingle, that will alienate some but mostly be accepted due to the "major artist making a hit single" angle.

It’s quite another to put out a rap song by a fictional group with an obviously fake backstory about a boring topic and hope to get any real media play.
