Why Sarah Palin Scares Me
When I first caught the news about Sarah Palin's selection as John McCain's running mate, I laughed at the idea that anyone could take her seriously and agreed with a friend's initial assessment that she was the Republican Party's sacrificial offering, someone whose career they could allow to be undermined in a campaign they seem destined to lose.
My bad.
I laughed when Reagan was nominated.
I laughed when George Bush, the former head of the CIA and the first head of a nation's secret police to ever be elected into such an office, was nominated and when Quayle was put forth as a running mate.
And, yes, I laughed when George W. threw his hat in the ring.
If they were electable, so are McCain/Palin.
But what really worries me is that Reagan ended up being America's most popular president and that much of George W.'s support seemed to come from people who valued aspects of his personality such as "being a good person to drink a beer with."
That's why Sarah Palin scares me.

Now you got me scared too, lol.
