Album Debuts: Plies Da Realist #14, Soulja Boy #43

Hip hop exits the top 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Top 10 Albums on the Billboard 200:

1. Taylor Swift - Fearless
2. Keyshia Cole - A Different Me
3. Jamie Foxx - Intuition
4. Britney Spears - Circus
5. Beyonce - I Am ... Sasha Fierce
6. Nickelback - Dark Horse
7. Soundtrack - Twilight
8. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux
9. AC/DC - Black Ice
10. Now That's What I Call Music! 29

Further down, Plies' Da Realist debuts at no. 14, which is a reminder of how strongly the week's competition affects those top spots.

He got 14 on sales of 114k but, Plies' first album, The Real Testament, debuted at no. 2 with 96k as did Definition of Real, though it took 215k to get that no. 2.

So never discount geeky characters good at things like scheduling releases.  That's a real art/science of its own with lots of luck thrown into the mix.

Soulja Boy's ISouljaBoyTellEm debuts at no. 43 on sales of 46k.  Not a huge surprise at this point which makes me wonder, could those with real data and insight have given Charles Hamilton a solid diss figure for Soulja Boy's release?

If so, he would have been in an interesting situation rather than wallowing in the mire of dissing Soulja Boy without adequate ammunition.

Then, again, maybe that's not what Charles Hamilton was trying to do.
