Atmosphere's When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Sh*t Gold debuts at no. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart and I think that's really awesome!
Their previous best was no. 66 for You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having in 2005. This is also the highest charting album for Rhymesayers and certainly a high point for alternative hip hop [or however you want to label this beyond emo rap].
Top 10 Albums on the Billboard 200:
1. Mariah Carey - E=MC2
2. Leona Lewis - Spirit
3. Flight Of The Conchords - Flight Of The Conchords
4. Ashlee Simpson - Bittersweet World
5. Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Sh*t Gold
6. Now That's What I Call Music 27
7. Soundtrack - Juno
8. George Strait - Troubadour
9. Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift
10. Phil Vassar - Prayer of a Common Man

Billboard has news of Common's next album Invincible Summer that is tentatively due in July from Kanye West's Good Music:
"Invincible Summer," which Common has been hard at work on for the last two months, is tentatively scheduled for mid-July. The high-energy track "Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)" is likely be the first single, due by the end of May. The Neptunes and Outkast producer Mr. DJ produced the album. Kanye West...did not contribute any tracks this time around.
"Kanye was focusing on his 'Glow in the Dark' show, so he hasn't been able to make it to the studio to weigh in," Common says. "But it worked out well, organically. The Neptunes & Mr. DJ came up with a fresh sound for me."
Guests include Cee-Lo, Chester French and, hopefully, Santogold.
Billboard checked out an 8 track preview that may or may not be in circulation.

DrJay's.com recently announced the launch of a video channel called DrJay's.com Live.
Unlike KarmaloopTV, which has a rather broad focus, DrJay's.com Live currently appears tightly focused on fashion and that's a nice clear strategy for a video site connected to a retail fashion outlet.

Ludacris revealed a bit to Billboard about his next album, Theater of the Mind, scheduled for a September release from Def Jam:
"Calling the album a collection of his experiences up to this point, Ludacris promises that 'Theater' will be film-worthy. 'Expect the whole album [to be] theatrical,' he says. Though he hasn't yet chosen a first single, he says that a track should drop by June or July."
"Ludacris revealed the title of one track, 'Let's Stay Together,' produced by DJ Paul of Three6 Mafia. Other producers making contributions to the new album include Dre & Vidal, 9th wonder, Ice Drake and DJ Don Cannon."
He also discussed his upcoming film activities.
According to Soulja Boy's YouTube channel, iDance is the first single off Soulja Boy's next album, to be called iSouljaBoy, and he dropped it at, where else?, YouTube.
Update:
Or maybe the new album will be called Back To School.

Roach Marketing w/Zoo York Cult Members
Zoo York, apparently a Manhattan based cult of PETA renegades, is utilizing roach marketing to spread the word.
They want you to join their movement and upload your own zany videos.
On the real, though I can't really advocate dumping roaches on people, I think the above video does capture a certain realness and subcultural attitude that's quite appealing. And, unlike the Cool Kids, it's bringing '88 back for me!
Though I haven't been keeping up with the art scene as closely as I'd like, I think it's a trip that two of my favorite works of art from the 21st Century have come from marketing efforts, this roach event and the Attack of the Lite-Brites.
