I failed to note the likely passing of LL Cool J's fashion line for Sears which will join a long list of clothing lines floating in the deadpool including, most recently, Young Buck's line. Complex finds 10 worth eulogizing and the commenters add a few more.
Of course, we don't see many hip hop fashion lines these days. We mostly see fashion lines by people associated with hip hop.
Note:
Could uncool advertising be part of the problem for LL Cool J's line?
Update:
DrJays.com's Boss Lady weighs in on Young Buck's failed line which was the inspiration for the Complex article:
"Apparently Young Buck was also confused about how to create and maintain a clothing line, as media reports are stating his David Brown Clothing is now defunct."
"We spoke to Buck and his business partners at MAGIC back in February 2008 about bringing the gear to DrJays.com, but hesitated due to the limited scope of the designs."
Oww!
Update 2:
Snoop Dogg's Rich & Infamous line is also running into difficulties.
