Navarrow Wright Exits Global Grind
In an abrupt move discovered by Angela Benton of Black Web 2.0, Navarrow Wright is gone, gone, gone from Global Grind.
Apparently two freaks is one freak too many.
Best of luck to Russell Simmons as he tries to save his investment and his reputation.

wait, there's more to the story. apparently they are about to shut down operations. 2 years or so after launch, their vcs might have run out of patience. pathetic website, pathetic vcs.

I thought the shut down was more speculative so I'll be checking for that. VCs aren't typically patient and they've watched a number of iterations to mixed success.
Thanks for dropping by!

Celeb endorsements and money dont garantee success, this thing was a joke from the get go. model was supposed to be netvibes for HH, then digg for HH, then huffington post for HH. Ridiculous. It's like T.I.'s social network, they've shut down in the fall, hardly a year after launch.

I didn't even know about TI's social network!
But some celebrity projects have done well, like ThisIs50.com, because they worked with people who understood new media and the web from something other than an old school mass media perspective.
Too bad the main guy involved with ThisIs50.com was a jerk. The more I found out about his actual work, outside of stealing content, the more impressed I became.
Then again, stealing content seems to be a road to success in hip hop web media!

T.I.'s network was street cred. Launched in summer 07, they folded in Oct or Nov 08. this is 50 is more of a fansite, that's why it "works"...at least as long as there are weirdos interested in hat he has to say. it gets traffic because of 50's regular attacks on rick. who's the dude in charge there? What do u mean he's a jerk stealing content? some juicy gossip/facts to share?

That's right. I even wrote about Street Cred.
In other stale news, nothing juicy on this bit of ThisIs50.com info, but here's what I'm referring to:

the only traffic global grind gets is thru ad buys on google, no one's ever been interested in this ridiculous concept. Now russell hires the call girl who slept w/ Spitzer to try to raise traffic! Another crazy idea is IAC funded rushmore drive, the search engine for african americans. Give me a break, they too buy traffic, no one's give a rat ass about them. Seriously how many peeps who read this post have used rushmoredrive before? Last but not least (about previous posts on this page): 50 cent's thisis50 is nothin more than a propaganda tool for him. The dude doesnt even write his own tweets. Also posts about streetcred are not relevant, it is no longer in activity.
