Timberland's new SoHo store debuts a photography exhibit, Nature of a City, on March 27th that is intended to reflect the "style, spirit and authenticity shared by Timberland and New York City's five thriving boroughs."

Photos are drawn from the archives of powerHouse Books and will include work by "New York-based photographers Janette Beckman, Vivian Cherry, Martha Cooper, Arlene Gottfried, Lisa Kahane, Maripol, Ricky Powell and Jamel Shabazz."

Though Timberland has not always acknowledged its urban fans, I'm betting this exhibit will, given the participants.

The store opened February 13th:

"Build-out for the 2,000 square foot retail space employed green building practices and materials to reduce the store's environmental footprint, including the use of materials salvaged or reclaimed from previous occupants. In addition to seasonal assortments of Timberland(R) footwear, apparel and accessories, the store will periodically feature exclusive and limited collections for both men and women."
