Wow! Young rappers, old rappers, they're all doing it big this week on the Billboard 200 album chart. The biggest surprise to me is Drake's So Far Gone which did much better than some of us expected given it's wide and free availability online.
Not sure how many of those sales are hard copy but it just shows how far we've come in a 3 1/2 year period from the days when folks could get away with claiming that free was a bad look. Now it's more about how to work with free as a pricing strategy.
Top 10 Albums on the Billboard 200:
1. Jay-Z – The Blueprint 3
2. Whitney Houston – I Look To You
3. Muse – The Resistance
4. Kid Cudi – Man on the Moon: The End of Day
5. Miley Cyrus – The Time of Our Lives
6. Drake – So Far Gone
7. Lil Boosie – Superbad
8. Taylor Swift – Fearless
9. Megadeth – Endgame
10. Black Eyed Peas – The E.N.D.

how much did Kid Cudi acually sell so far? please need to know
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. It may be too late for you but here’s the deal.
Billboard.com used to include some sales figures on their free site but it looks like all those numbers are behind the pay wall now.
However, the weekly article at Billboard sometimes shares such things for the top 10 as they did in the article linked in the post above:
“Kid Cudi is up next with his debut effort, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day,” which starts at No. 4 with 104,000 sold.”
