In the wake of the Democratic Party's loss of Ted Kennedy's former Senate seat, they're apparently turning on each other like a bunch of losers who can't define their enemy.
After years of suffering under the Republican Party's attempt to turn this into a one party nation, the loyal opposition appears incredibly clueless.
And that's what they get for being the loyal opposition. Too bad that, at the end of the day, the people will pay the price.
One of the biggest things Democrats are currently missing are covert moves by Republicans to win races that Democrats thought they had in the bag.
The recent takeover of the Wake County School Board here in Raleigh, NC caught local Democrats flat-footed. People are getting involved now but it's after the fact. They dropped the ball because they underestimated the threat. And the new board members are playing nonpartisan hardball at every opportunity with surprise votes on measures that they aren't showing the other board members till the last minute before forcing the vote.
In Massachusetts, the Republicans quietly funded their candidate while letting the Democrats talk smack about their lack of support. They also did a good job of making it look like a local race by keeping national figures quiet. In The NRSC's below the radar role, John Bresnahan breaks it down.
Now what do you think's going to happen to Obama's agenda? Serves him right for continuing to play bipartisan politics with only one party cooperating.
Apparently the Reagan/Bush dynasty taught the Democratic Party very little. I know that when I talked to individual Democrats a while back about reading a book focused on Karl Rove's tactics, instead of recognizing that they needed to be studying the guy's approach in order to keep from being used over and over again, they acted disgusted by the very idea of reading a book about Karl Rove!
I'm so disappointed by these people. They go on and on about how high the stakes are yet refuse to play to win. Unless they step up, and I find that unlikely, it's all downhill from here.
