Famous People Should Not Be Touring Haiti Right Now

Bill Clinton and the U.N.'s secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, are finding it necessary to tour Haiti at the worst possible time because their physical presence is oh so important. Do you know how much security travels with people like that, all of whom need to eat and drink and fly in and out of overcrowded airports?

Famous people suck up resources wherever they go. They should step back and let the pros do their job. We don't need celebrity reports and the people of Haiti don't need famous people getting photo ops.

Step back and let the rescue go on.

Does becoming powerful make you stupid?

It sure seems that way sometimes. With a now estimated 200,000 expected to die why the hell are these fools sucking up resources that those people need?

If they don't know how to raise funds or make statements while drawing on the work of journalists, eye witness reports, etc., they shouldn't be in the fundraising or statement making business.

Famous people sucking up resources so they can see things for themselves are helping kill Haitians.

And just wait until the “Charity Concerts” where multimillionaires will ask struggling thousand-aires to give all their money.

I hear what you’re saying though I think fund raising is the most appropriate action for celebrities. It best leverages their “skills” and desires to be seen in such a situation.
