My Love of Hip Hop is Finally Returning! [Updated]

Now that I've got some distance from the ahole attackers whose negativity greatly outweighed the positivity of the handful of regulars who used to comment on my blog, I'm starting to enjoy hip hop again.

Seriously, my love of hip hop is now returning as I've given up on taking the business of hip hop seriously enough to spend most of my time studying and writing about it.

That first year of ProHipHop was pretty amazing and the next couple of years were pretty good but the payback just wasn't there based on the course I took.

In some ways, I regret my mistakes but the alternative was to pretend like the industry wasn't full of lying liars and scumbags and just go along with the game like the corporate schmucks who've made a home in the business, some of whom are pretty nice people but can't speak freely cause it would ruin their insider status.  And what good is hip hop if you can't speak your mind?

You can have the business.  I'll take the music.

Update: But when will my love of New York return?

  1. I understand where you’re coming from. The whole industry is SO commercial now. Your love for NY will come back when NY starts doing what they’re supposed to be doing. The thing with NY is that it doesn’t change much, but I think artists from the apple are used to always being on top… it’s not like that right now.

Some New Yorkers involved with hip hop obviously have had problems with not being at the center of attention at all times as if they were Paris Hilton wannabes.
On the other hand, some of my oldest, dearest friends are in New York. They just aren’t involved with hip hop or the music industry.
In any case, I have a lot of other places I want to visit that seem a lot more interesting these days.
