Compete Comparison: hiphoppress.com (beautiful blue) vs. billboardpublicitywire.com (sickly green)
There are reasons that this head to head comparison of Hip Hop Press: Releases and Billboard Publicity Wire is not as impressive as it seems but I'm loving it anyway!
For example, Billboard Publicity Wire publishes about 1 release a day while Hip Hop Press publishes 25+ releases a day. So individual releases will probably get a better look at Billboard Publicity Wire plus they're included on PRWeb. I'd certainly pay the $80 or more to get my press release included if I was on a budget and not satisfied by free services like Hip Hop Press.
But, given that when I reached out to PRWeb's Business Development people a few years back they blew me off and given that the current graph makes Hip Hop Press look way as hell dominant, I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
You know, if we had a similar alliance with PRWeb, which basically charges the exact same fee for Billboard Publicity Wire releases as for releases that are shown only on PRWeb, I can assure you we'd have a heck of a lot more paid releases than one a day.
Honestly, if PRWeb and Hip Hop Press had partnered up a few years back when they started working with Billboard, we'd be making them much more money by now than they're making off their current arrangement.
And we could have built on that by launching similar services for other music/culture genres at which point there would be no further comparisons needed.
As Hip Hop Press continues to build separately but with cross-promotion from ProHipHop, I think it's time that somebody at PRWeb woke up from their long sleep and reached out. But I'm not holding my breath!

Comparing the two sites makes me realize that I really should be considering a similar service for rock and related music since I'm getting more and more outreach from publicists who work across genres. So I went ahead and registered rockpressreleases.com. Oh, and maybe a couple more!
