Madlib: History of the Loop Digga
Two Madlib-centric releases out on Tuesday, May 18th with No. 5 in the Madlib Medicine Show History of the Loop Digga and Guilty Simpson's OJ Simpson.
Stones Throw currently has May 25th as the release date for Madlib Medicine Show No. 5: History of the Loop Digga which is a particularly interesting archival project drawing on Madlib's beat tapes (on cassette) from the 1990's.
There is a 3 LP vinyl release as well as a comic with the CD featuring artwork by Benjamin Marra who did the awesome album cover:
Madlib Medicine Show #5: The History of the Loop Digga will be released on CD, digital and a deluxe 3LP format. The deluxe 3LP set includes 34 minutes of vocal & instrumental material not available on the CD or digital release, and one-of-a-kind individually screened covers by Hit+Run. The artwork is by Benjamin Marra who has created a comic book for the album about the fictional 90s-era Rapper X who goes on a vengeful cop-killing rampage. The comic is included with the CD.

Guilty Simpson: OJ Simpson
Guilty Simpson and Madlib worked together on OJ Simpson:
These are some 12 hard-hitting hip-hop tracks featuring Guilty’s inimitable baritone, and an equal number of Madlib’s signature album-as-soundtrack/radio/sideshow arrangements, where the beat & sequence is as important as the rap. This, with a couple no-nonsense guest appearances, some cuts by J.Rocc, and a whole bunch of attitude, makes up one of our favorite projects in a while.
