Kanye West has had a lot of social faux pas during his run as hip-hops best rapper/producer, but his new Hype Williams video is causing a reaction that has to surprise even Kanye West himself. The video for “All of the Lights,” which stems from a single of his wildly successful album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” is allegedly causing epileptic seizures in people and it has caused a significant public outcry.
The UK organization Epilepsy Action has taken action against the seizure inducing video. They have contacted not only West’s agent, but also other media outlets such as Youtube as well as other sites that have been carrying their video. Their objective is to take the video off the site or suffer possible legal action.
The team for West and the distribution company that put out the video pulled it amid the complaints in order to deal with it before putting it back out into circulation. The video itself is said to be a tribute of “Enter The Void” as the video features flashing lights throughout the video.
The reported cases of epileptic reactions are not uncommon on videos and video games, but this video has created such a strong reaction that people are taking serious. Epilepsy is a serious condition that affects over three million people in the United States alone.
Considering that the video had received over five million views the reps for Kanye West had to take action. These days the video is met with a disclaimer that reads “WARNING: This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.”
With all the public relations issues that West has had over the last few years it’s important that he was smart about addressing the issues of the video. It’s not that the video itself is considered a mistake, but not handling it would have been.
Before viewing the video below – Please heed the warning and be aware that it could cause a seizure.
