OG Boo Dirty Makes His Debut on MTV’s Sucker Free Countdown

After solidifying his place in Memphis’ hip-hop scene, newcomer OG Boo Dirty has set his sights outside Tennessee state lines. The burgeoning lyricist recently made his debut on MTV’s Sucker Free Countdown this month, affirming OG’s talent on a national level.

At just 23 years old, OG has already appeared on tracks with notable rappers Yung Joc and Rocko, performed at Hot 97’s Summer Jam alongside Young Jeezy and Bobby Valentino, and earned a spot on AllHipHop’s Breeding Ground Elite. The series is known for showcasing hip-hop’s rising talents before they appear on the mainstream’s radar. He is part of a new generation of young rappers with DIY (Do It Yourself) sensibilities. With no radio play or a major label backing prior to linking with current label CGI Music Group, OG has managed to cultivate a devout following through social media, internet campaigns, direct to fan mixtapes, and an unwavering street team.

The South Memphis native has garnered a groundswell of support with his latest mixtape (April 2011,)The Story of OG Vol. 1 hosted by DJ Holiday (with 82,000 downloads). His digital full length dropped on June 21, 2011 and was featured on the Itunes Hip-Hop “New Arrivals” for 3 consecutive weeks. The album features notable cameos from Rocko, 8 Ball, Yung Joc, King Azz Star, Playa Fly, DJ Paul and Kia Shine.

Armed with a new video EPK featuring exclusive interviews and tracks, OG is showing he can hold his own among hip-hop’s elite. Despite his newfound success, OG’s career in music was completely happenstance. In 2008, OG went from doing “all the stuff that’ll land you dead or in jail” and freestyling on the block to laying down a track in a recording studio on a whim. Now he packs Memphis venues with crowds singing along to his popular tracks like “Bands On Me” and “She’s A Freak.”
