The brreaking news is that Drake is up to receive an award from Canada’s Walk of Fame. He’s been receiving awards left and right including two Juno Awards, a spot on the Songwriters Hall of Fame and being named Man of the Year by GQ Magazine. Obviously, Drake has been reaping the best of his promising career with the rave reviews he’s been getting.
Recently, Canada’s Walk of Fame awarded well-known rapper Drake an Allan Slaight honor. The award honors Canadians who have showed excellence in the fields of music, literature, sports and the performing arts. It comes with a $10,000 honorarium cash prize, which Drake decided to donate to the charity organization Dixon Hall. The Toronto native rapper and singer released a statement on his latest award, stating that he’s proud to be given such prestigious award by his home country.
In a recent interview, Drake stated that he’s a proud Canadian. “I am a proud Canadian, and I am grateful to Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Slaight Foundation for this award,” he motioned. Truly honorable, he showed excellence in rap music, a renowned hip hop stalwart to watch out for.
Peter Soumalias, Canada’s Walk of Fame director also shared his views on the award. He praised Drake for being successful at such a young age, stating that the latter already reached the peak of a career that’s equivalent to a lifetime of progress. Soumalias said Drake possesses many positive qualities that make him “an inspiring example to all,” such as kindness, elegance, talent, philanthropy and a fierce drive to succeed. “We are proud to recognize him this year as a young Canadian making a positive impact”, said Soumalias.
