Jay-Z Talks about J.Cole’s Grammy Nomination

Jay-Z

2011 has proven to be a great year for mainstream newcomer J.Cole. From grabbing a nod at the Grammy Awards up to being able to have his own debut LP, this Roc Nation rapper definitely has some promise in his hands.

Jay-Z, J.Cole’s boss, recently gave his thoughts to MTV about his man’s Grammy nomination for the Best New Artist category. Jay-Z expressed his joy and delight as Cole received the nomination this early in his Hip Hop career. He added that even if J.Cole does not actually bring home the award, it would be as if he has already won it due to the success that follows his debut album, “Cole World: The Sideline Story,” that has already reached gold certification for selling more than 500,000 copies. Jay-Z also stated that J.Cole absolutely deserves to get the credits and respects from the world of hip hop because of his innate talent, determination and continual growth as an artist.

Jay-Z personally believes that being nominated in the Grammy’s is something that J.Cole needs to reinforce his significance in the industry. “I think it’s great for him, because I’m sure it’s a dream of his,” Jay-Z said. He also added bits about his personal insights on the milestones that J.Cole is reaching one by one: “We grew up seeing Michael Jackson, and I’m sure he grew up seeing whatever moment stuck in his mind, so I know it’s great for him to do that. I think he’s already won Best New Artist, to me. His journey is what I’m really excited about…whether he was nominated or not, he was the best new artist to me; sold 200-and-something-thousand records in his first week; he was the best new artist. I’m sure it’s great for him.”

Jay-Z believes that the continuous artist-development process, such as what J.Cole had gone through until he realized success, should be preserved for the future generations.

Beastie Boys among the 2012 Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees: Another Milestone for Hip Hop

Beastie Boys

It is not very common for hip hop acts to get nods for the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. But for Beastie Boys, this is definitely the year to claim the Fame.

Beastie Boys, alongside another New York act Laura Nyro, was announced to be included in the 2012 Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. They are also sharing the fame with California’s Guns ‘n Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers. England is also well represented by Small Faces. Come April 14, 2012, Beastie Boys and the other inductees (about eight more, including inductees from other categories) will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony that will be held in Cleveland, where the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Museum royally sits.

The hip hop duo act Eric B. and Rakim were also considered for the HOF, but it seemed like the Beastie Boys’ rock-tinged Bronx hip hop has won the Hall’s rock experts over.

The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1986 and since then, it has been a standard of which music acts had been successful in creating an impact in their respective genres. Artists are given the chance of grabbing spots in the Hall of Fame 25 years after they have released their first record.

Over the 25 years of Hall of Fame’s existence, very few hip hop acts have been recognized and inducted into the Hall. This says a lot about how Beastie Boys did very well in the music industry. They are to join hip hop acts Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five as well as RunDMCas Rock ‘n Roll HOF inductees.

The Beastie Boys climbed to hip hop eminence back in 1986 as they released their first album, License to III. They have continued to release fresh rock-hip hop music from then on and continually gained worldwide acclaim.

Nicki Minaj Discloses Wacky Stuff in Her Album

Nicki Minaj

These days, Nicki Minaj is one of the best singers in the entertainment industry. The Trinidad-born singer started her career by making mixtapes. Later on, she signed a record deal with Young Money Entertainment, with distribution from Universal Motown Records. She was discovered by fellow American rapper, Lil Wayne. But in recent time, Nicki is a super famous artist with her incredible singing talent and beauty. She was recently nominated for Best New Artist for the 2012 Grammy Awards.

The Harajuku Barbie speaks about the teaser single from her upcoming album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The track was created from the perspective of her alter-ego Roman Zolanski. The hip-hop material will be released on February 14, 2012.

In an interview with MTV News, the 28-year-old singer cheerfully spoke about the track. She enthused: “Roman in Moscow’ is like a teaser to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which will drop on Valentine’s Day.” She added: “When I say it’s a teaser, it’s like a trailer to the movie, it’s like setting the stage and I just wanted to touch the surface. It’s the wackiest thing on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.”

In the interview, the stunning singer also disclosed that a video will be shot for the single “real soon” and explained the events around the song. She candidly enthused: “Well, he was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there, so they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying rehabilitate him. She continued: “But I can’t tell exactly what happened, you’ll just see it in the video format, but let’s just say he got out of there.”

Obviously, Drake has been reaping the best of his promising career with the rave reviews he’s been getting.

Recently, Canada’s Walk of Fame awarded well-known rapper Drake an Allan Slaight honor. The award honors Canadians who have showed excellence in the fields of music, literature, sports and the performing arts. It comes with a $10,000 honorarium cash prize, which Drake decided to donate to the charity organization Dixon Hall. The Toronto native rapper and singer released a statement on his latest award, stating that he’s proud to be given such prestigious award by his home country.

In a recent interview, Drake stated that he’s a proud Canadian. “I am a proud Canadian, and I am grateful to Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Slaight Foundation for this award,” he motioned. Truly honorable, he showed excellence in rap music, a renowned hip hop stalwart to watch out for.

Peter Soumalias, Canada’s Walk of Fame director also shared his views on the award. He praised Drake for being successful at such a young age, stating that the latter already reached the peak of a career that’s equivalent to a lifetime of progress. Soumalias said Drake possesses many positive qualities that make him “an inspiring example to all,” such as kindness, elegance, talent, philanthropy and a fierce drive to succeed. “We are proud to recognize him this year as a young Canadian making a positive impact”, said Soumalias.

Canadian rapper Drake will be honored with this year’s Allan Slaight Award. He will be presented with the award, which is given to a young person in the country who makes a difference in the fields of sports, innovation, music, literature, film, visual or performing arts in philanthropy. Drake will be given a $10,000 honorarium, which he said would be presented to Dixon Hall, a community-based service that creates opportunities for people in low income neighborhoods around Toronto. “I am a proud Canadian, and I am grateful to Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Slaight Foundation for this award,” Drake told AllHipHop.com in a press release.
