Clipse Talk Kanye And Stage Crashers
Despite Jay-Z's claim that nobody's scared of 50 Cent, anybody in their right mind can see that Kanye isn't bum rushing anybody who poses any kind of physical threat. The Clipse clarify why Kanye will only be bum rushing people that don't scare him.

Note: For those who once considered blogs a revolutionary media tool, this is how the game of counter-revolution is played and is an excellent example of what the Situationists termed "recuperation":
"The counterrevolution does not take up revolutionary ideas because it is malign or manipulative, let alone short of ideas, but because revolutionary ideas deal with real problems with which the counterrevolution is confronted."
"Official 'revolutionary' thought is the scouting party of capital."
Knew that revo theory ish would come in handy one day!
Key Point: The sweet twist of BET's knife comes with the focus on New York based blogs and sites. Except for World Star Hip Hop, whose location is hidden as much as possible and is still unclear, all contestants in this category are based in the New York area, unlike absolutely every other category on this list.
A double edged recuperation at the very least though I would argue that, in the long run, it's actually an endgame and therefore a temporary recuperation at best.
Enjoy it while you can!

Jamie Foxx Hosts BET Awards '09
Yes, gazillion is the technical term for too many stars to count. I was checking out this press release for the BET Awards '09 and couldn't really decide what angle to feature in the headline for such a show. I could call it a stop on the Young Money Tour. Or I could speculate about whether or not Queen Latifah will rap or T-Pain will give up his vocoder or Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige will partner up. But there's just too many angles to choose one:
"Tune in to BET on Sunday, June 28 at 8:00 p.m. for the BET AWARDS '09, hosted by triple-threat Jamie Foxx and featuring phenomenal performances by the host himself, Kanye West, Beyonce, Queen Latifah, Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Mary Mary, Ne-Yo, Maxwell, Fabolous, Keyshia Cole, Monica, Young Jeezy, Johnny Gill, King of Hearts, Three of a Kind, Three the Hard Way, Travis Barker, Trey Songz and Tyrese -- with the most anticipated performance of all coming from cultural icon Jay-Z."
Plus lots of special appearances. Should make for fun tv or, in my case, YouTube viewing.

Cadence Weapon - Black Hand
The City of Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) has appointed Roland Pemberton, aka Cadence Weapon, their next Poet Laureate effective July 1st and continuing for two years.
From the announcement:
"Pemberton, 23, is recognized internationally as an innovative and accomplished hip hop artist. As Cadence Weapon, his albums Breaking Kayfabe and Afterparty Babies (Upper Class Recordings 2005 & 2008) earned him instant praise and notoriety from the international media. Cadence Weapon won a Canadian Independent Music Award for "Favourite Urban Artist", the CBC Radio 3's BUCKY Award, as well as nominations for "Best Rap Album of 2006" at the Plug Independent Music Awards, MuchMusic Video Award for "Sharks" and two nominations for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize."
"Pemberton, who will be Edmonton's third Poet Laureate, was nominated by local artist Trevor Anderson. "I suggest that Rollie's work already represents our City to its citizens, and that he acts as one of our most exciting municipal ambassadors when he tours nationally and internationally. Roland Pemberton is a poet of the people, and I think that might be the most important qualification for the Poet Laureate to hold", writes Anderson in his nomination letter..."
"Pemberton's roots in Edmonton run deep. He is the son of Teddy Pemberton who, as the host of The Black Experience on CJSR, is often credited with bringing hip hop to the city. His grandfather, the great Rollie Miles, played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1951 - 1961 and played in five CFL championship games."
Very cool. Big ups to Alberta for making Mr. Pemberton their Poet Laureate!

Mike Relm vs. The Spirit vs. Punisher vs. Transporter
Congratulations to DJ Mike Relm who won a Webby for the copyright holder approved Lionsgate mashup embedded above.
Mike will be performing at the 13th Annual Webby Celebration in New York on June 8th as one of two "Special Performers" and will be in good company as the other is none other than ?uestlove.
Should be an interesting show as Relm's live VJ mashup game is serious.
Everybody wants some of that Eminem money and the MTV Movie Awards, where Eminem will perform live, and even ProHipHop are no exception!
You may now go vote for nominees for the awards from long lists of white people plus Will Smith!
