ProHipHop's album and singles charts coverage continues in our Charts 07 category.
I guess I'm the only one that actually reads Billboard's own coverage of the Hot 100 singles chart cause they never seem to correct their articles when they leave questions like, who's no. 8 this week?, unanswered.
Of course, the many sites that reprint those articles don't seem to care either. But it was probably Gwen or Jim or some other famous person and, anyway, that's practically last year's news!

While I agree with Kelefa Sanneh's assessment of Gnarls Barkley's Crazy as a "halfway hip-hop hit", I think it's a great thing to see the single still rising and now at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
And, since bloggers have already been a part of the rise of The Pack's Vans (formerly Got My Vans On), I find it worth noting that the single is the top debut this week at no. 58.

In barely related news that I'll squeeze in anyway, Troy Lee Gentry of country music act Montgomery Gentry, may not be appearing in future chart listings (and for all I know never has), because he got busted for killing a caged bear and then trying to make it look like he hunted it in the wild:
According to an indictment unsealed this week, in October 2004 Gentry paid $4,650 to shoot the "trophy-caliber" bear named "Cubby" at the Minnesota Wildlife Connection in northern Minnesota, which advertises itself as a place where animals can be photographed in the wild.
After using a bow and arrow to kill the animal inside its pen, Gentry and the owner of the preserve tagged the bear and registered it with the state as if it had been killed in the wild. A videotape was edited to make it appear that Gentry had hunted down the bear.
I was so moved by the news that I resuscitated Brand Destruction Research to mark his deed as a form of brand self destruction.
See ya Sunday!
