Lil Wayne's Lollipop slips to no. 2 on the Hot 100 singles chart but it does take the top spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart "becoming the chart's first rap single to reach No. 1 since Ludacris' 'Money Maker' climbed to the top in October 2006."

Atmosphere's When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Sh*t Gold debuts at no. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart and I think that's really awesome!

Their previous best was no. 66 for You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having in 2005.  This is also the highest charting album for Rhymesayers and certainly a high point for alternative hip hop [or however you want to label this beyond emo rap].

Trina got the no. 6 spot off sales of 47,000 though her no. 11 debut with Glamorest Life sold 77,000.  Of course, higher album rankings off lower sales is a current theme of the music industry.

Usher's Love in This Club featuring Young Jeezy jumped from no. 51 to no. 1 on the Hot 100 singles chart this week.  Usher pushes Flo Rida's Low featuring T-Pain to no. 2 but Low takes the top spot on the RingMasters chart for the 13th straight week beating out Soulja Boy's super single Crank That (Soulja Boy) which only topped RingMasters for 12.

On a personal note:
One of my New Year's resolutions was to listen to more albums in 2008.  I tried listening to a streaming version of In Rainbows.  After the fourth song I was so incredibly bored that I just shut it off.

That's one of those reasons I don't do album reviews anymore.  It requires listening to whole albums no matter how much I personally feel they suck and then playing the debased role of music critic.

I just don't see the appeal in my doing that.
