Lots of DJ Hero news hitting the web in the wake of the release of Numark's SCRATCH DECK images for Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.

The above trailer, via Crate Kings who found it profoundly underwhelming, suggests a pop/dance demographic.

Kotaku has screenshots featuring DJ Shadow or a futuristic, cyborg replica.

And Jay-Z and Eminem [via WoooHa] are in on the marketing action:

"A limited edition comes with the rappers' exclusive new greatest-hits CDs, possibly including previously unreleased tracks, plus an advanced version of the controller, a DJ stand and metal traveling case. Jay-Z and Eminem will serve as consultants to Activision and the game's developer, FreeStyleGames."

DJ Hero will include a wide range of music and possible uses:

"In addition to single-DJ action, two players can compete or play cooperatively. Special mixes will let players use the Guitar Hero controller. The game spans hip-hop, electronica, R&B, soul and pop/rock with songs by 50 Cent, Beastie Boys, KRS-One, Blondie, N.E.R.D., Gorillaz and David Bowie. Numark Industries and Genius, Inc. have released the first photos of the SCRATCH DECK, the videogame controller for Scratch: The Ultimate DJ:

"SCRATCH DECK combines two essential elements of the DJ and hip-hop experience - a free-spinning, touch sensitive turntable with a crossfader and 5 Akai Pro MPC-style drum pads. The turntable allows players to add their own style and manipulate the songs in real time, while the MPC-style drum pads give players the opportunity to perform and customize tracks by triggering samples using the very same pads that are the cornerstone of professional hip-hop beat production."

"Samples can either be pre-loaded into the game using 60 unique battle records that will ship with the software, or players can record and upload their own samples using a compatible USB microphone."
