The extravagantly titled DJ Drama Presents Wyclef Jean AKA Toussaint St Jean: From The Hut, To The Projects, To The Mansion, that also extravagantly expands the concept of an EP to 13 tracks, is due November 10th on Carnival House via Megaforce/RED.
Numerous features on this mixtape turned EP have been announced including Eve, Timbaland, Maino, Cyndi Lauper and Lil Kim.
Wyclef Jean's self titled Wyclef Jean is due in March 2010 on Columbia Records.

Here's a promo snippet from the upcoming Pitch Control Mixtape DVD Vol. 3 due September 29th.
I wanted to toss this up because it reminds me of how much I like this genre of Texas music. As time passes, I like it more and more, especially when it's chopped and screwed. I'm also wanting to go back and listen to early Dirty South tracks from the Deep South. When I first encountered Juvenile I was somewhat dumbfounded. But now I'm feeling more and more of that music.
Like most things I'm into, I get into them way early or way late, but I rarely just follow trends in my personal listening. Can't do that with clothes either. It just seems like such an obvious move. Yadadamean?

DOOM, or some guy in the studio wearing an MF DOOM mask, is putting out what is described as a "mix cd" of "non-album tracks, guest features & exclusives selected and mixed by the Super Villain himself" titled Unexpected Guests on Gold Dust Media.

Drake - So Far Gone
Drake's So Far Gone mixtape, now a key part of the Legend of King Drake, is refurbished for retail release September 15th:
"The actor, singer, rapper has released three mixtapes since 2006 and his most recent mixtape lead to signing with Young Money Records...The unmixed, unmastered mixtape previously available sporadically only on the internet is now mixed and mastered and available digitally and specialty album. Features include: Lil Wayne, Trey Songz & Bun B."
The Smoking Section feels that this release, coming months after the widely noted, free release of much of the same material, is Too Little, Too Late:
"It’s one thing trying to convince people to buy an album that’s supposed to be a retail release. It’s a whole ‘nother thing to ask people to buy something six to seven months after you gave it to them for free. Especially when your only offering one new song to the equation. Isn’t that what iTunes is for? So Far Gone was chock full of bangers (some which could’ve been held for his debut album,) but it has to be let go."
But, in the land of The Long Tail, free has weird effects and a shift in distribution mode sometimes opens up new revenue streams.
Of course, The Smoking Section is speaking disparagingly of sales of "only" 100 to 200,000 copies undermining major label support when much more seems expected of Drake's first album. Sounds like a mo' money, mo' problems issue of some sort for the new Savior of Corporate Hip Hop. Since Amazon sales are looking solid, I expect this to be a successful release though it may not reach what TSS feels it needs.
That said, there are so many ways Drake could drop a mixtape related release, for example, one that builds on all of his mixtapes, that releasing So Far Gone in this manner is a bit of a disappointment on both creative and business levels.

Chamillionaire offers Mixtape Messiah 7 for free download but it's the 100 hard copies that's got the Internet going, um, to Ebay and stuff.

It looks like you have to go to twitter.trvsdjam.com, that's a subdomain of trvsdjam.com, so this isn't about building Twitter followers at twitter.com/trvsdjam.
This move should get a heck of a lot of media coverage since creative use of Twitter, or simply using Twitter to do things formerly done elsewhere, seems to be the easiest way to get coverage at the moment.
